Why the Travel Savvy Diva?
Well I love to travel and it’s been said that I can be a bit of a diva…
I have been fortunate to have had a fabulous career in the
travel industry spanning more than two decades. I still love to travel,
(although now I have to foot the bill myself) and want to share some of my experiences and tips with you.
Confession time, I have never backpacked, taken a gap year, gone off to ‘find myself’ or stayed in budget hostels in the Far East, or anywhere for that matter, but I have experienced sketchy roach-infested motels, near-death experiences, riots, earthquakes, hurricanes and have come close to being arrested in numerous countries on more than one occasion.
Don’t let the title of my blog fool you, I may love to travel like a Diva but this girl is one tough cookie and can sleep for days in her rental car and hang out in sketchy neighbourhoods like the best of them.
I travelled a lot as a child, I was always first to sign up for school trips, nagged my parents to take me to new places and was never afraid to head out on my own if nobody would go with me! From an early age I always knew I would be some kind of nomad for life.
I landed my first overseas job at age 20 and headed off to the sunny beaches of Spain and never looked back.
I spent the next ten years climbing the travel industry corporate ladder and found myself living and working is many destinations, including The Spanish mainland, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Portugal, Greek Islands, Austria, Tunisia and Florida.
I wanted to take my travel career to the next level, in fact to 35,000 feet! I landed my dream job as long-haul cabin crew with a leading British airline and spent ten years travelling to amazing destinations, staying in luxury hotels, enjoying long layovers and getting paid extraordinarily well for it.
After hanging up my wings I made a little beach town in Spain my home and live here with my husband and two dogs.
I still have the travel bug, in fact probably more so! I always have the next trip booked, even before the last one has finished. I like to travel well and definitely could not be called a budget traveller!
After travelling for a living for so many years, I do enjoy the finer things in the travel world but my bank account hasn’t quite caught up with the idea yet. So I try to find the best ways to enjoy luxury travel (and occasionally some less luxurious), without bankrupting myself in the process.
I want this blog to be a mix of the fine and the fun, the informative and the irresponsible, but most of all I want you to enjoy it and come back for more.
